#46 on my countdown of things I am looking forward to is the driveway. At our first house the driveway was quite bizzare. It was a single car width near the street, and by the time it reached the garage it was 2.5 cars wide. I definitely didn't mind it, but it will certainly be nice to have a double wide driveway from start to finish! Plus, it will be brand new concrete - so no different elevations, cracks, etc. for the forseable future!
My only update on the house is that all of the paint has been delivered and is waiting for the painters in the kitchen. I was hoping to see cabinets hung when we walked in yesterday, but I guess that the paint goes on first, then the cabinets. I keep telling myself to be patient - that our final date is final, so no matter the order of the building process it WILL be ours on August 3rd, but it's very difficult to be so calm about it - I want it now!
In other news, our friends Eric and his wife Deanna just bought a house. Their first home experience is quite similar to that of our first home. They bought a year before us, and it was also a small, cramped house that they will never recoup the money put into it. The house they bought is a very nice cape-cod style home, with an open floorplan, a beautiful kitchen, and two bedrooms on the first, and second floors. I am so happy for them, even though I know they are probably hoping their first house sells quickly now. They probably saw interest rates and couldn't pass it up! lol, speaking of...
Rates are still at 4.25%, so I only have 16 more days of crossing my fingers. I do have to say, that part is stressful. I know we locked in at 5%, but that .75% equally a ton of money in our monthly mortgage payment!
Well, folks, that's all the update for now. I am hoping Scott hears from the builder today about what to expect next weeks' progress to be!
