While yesterday's post was about our retention pond, today's post is about the much larger pond that is beyond the first layer of woods that our backyard has a clear view of. The much larger pond is the length of the entire street, and is owned by the FOP, whose lodge is in our backyard. The lodge is not visible, but their beautiful pond is. It is so serene and peaceful, and with no doubt in my mind will I spend many a nights just gazing at it from my master bath.
One of the reasons we chose the lot that we did was because of the wooded backyard with multiple ponds, which is all owned by the FOP. They have owned the land since the beginning of time, and according to our builder, the land is unable to be developed because of the dips and ponds. What does this mean you ask? Well, it means that we will never have people living behind us!
Although both my husband and I enjoy having neighbors, we both agree that after living in our old house, where the neighbors are only two feet away (literally), we needed space in our new house. We needed space from neighbors, and if we didn't have visibility of neighbors in every direction that would be even better.
I'm straying from the real feature of this post though, which is the large and beautiful pond. Ahh...peace and quiet - I am dreaming of having all my windows open, a breeze running through the house, carrying with it the fresh scents of spring and fall, and being able to enjoy all the views!
