A small gripe

Well, it's official - our builder has done something wrong. I know they'll fix it, but it's just so upsetting to go over to the house and see something very wrong.
Our hardwood flooring is in the foyer, hallway, closet, half bath, breakfast room, kitchen, and mudroom. Since it is an open floorplan the hardwood flooring connects the entire house except for the family room and office (those are carpeted). Anyway, when I showed up yesterday I was so excited to see the brown paper over the floor in the foyer - that is, I was excited. I looked further and low and behold they didn't connect the flooring from the breakfast room to the hallway. Instead, there is a five foot span where carpet would go. Don't even get me started on how rediculous that is. It doesn't even make sense!
Needless to say anything else, we will be calling the builder today to let him know that it needs to be corrected.

On a positive note, the slate tile was put in around the fireplace and it looks absolutely divine. The vinyl flooring also looks great in the upstairs bathrooms and the laundry room. I was a bit concerned that it wouldn't look good up against the cabinets in the bathrooms, but actually I think it compliments the cabinetry quite well.

Today will be a busy day for me though, so I opted to work from home the entire day instead of half the day. We've got family coming in town, and so I want to get cleaning and laundry done while working. I am in desperate need for this long weekend coming up - and it's getting harder and harder to not take vacation days prior to getting our keys!
