Our first house had a really nice master bedroom simply because there was an addition to it, making it possible for it to become a master suite. The bedroom and the sitting room were virtually the same size, and the bathroom off of it was new and clean, but definitely small. We turned the sitting room into a walk-in closet, and therefor never had a real reason to buy a bedroom "set." We decided it would be better just to buy a bedframe, and then in our next place we would buy the glorious bedroom set.
Well, here we are...almost in our new house, and so I am beginning to get ideas of what i'd like. If you know me, this isn't a chore - I practically thrive on researching furniture and decorations. What is a chore for me is figuring out how to make country "contemporary". At my last house I think I did a pretty good job of it, mixing wood finishes with straight black lines, contemporary accents with country decorations, etc.
Now that we're talking furniture though, I am beginning to have visions of old world, cottage, and contemporary - and THAT my friends, well that will not be an easy task.
Believe it or not, one of my favorite furniture collections is that of Paula Deens! Yes...she has a furniture collection - and I am over the moon about pretty much all of it! Only problem, is that it is boo-koo bucks. I did however, find a place that sells her collections for much lower than other retailers, such as Thomasville Furniture (happens to be the only place that sells her stuff around here).
So, for our bedroom I am thinking this collection fits the bill:

Now onto the next room....the kitchen. When we bought our first house, the kitchen was so stinking small that we had a really hard time finding a table that worked with the space. After shopping at several places and continuously have difficulties finding a table, we finally bought a basic table from Value City Furniture. I still think it's a nice table, but am no longer crazy about it (not that I ever really was, actually). Anyway, I've been looking more at round tables, that with a leaf can become oval shaped, and can accomodate several people. The one that I am practically drooling over is this:

It's another Paula Deen collection, but I am in love with everything about it. I've done my online shopping at a few other local places to see if they have anything similar, but so far these are the two furniture sets that are really hitting the spot.
I am sure that I won't be able to get both at the same time, so i'll probably get the kitchen table first and the bedroom set down the road. As per usual I am opting to go with the thing everyone can use instead of it being soley for me! Why can't I just be rich - hahahaha!
